Job Description The VA New York Harbor Healthcare System
(NYHHCS) is a multi-site medical system that includes a major
medical facility in Manhattan, Brooklyn, St. Albans campus in
Queens, and two Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs). VA
NYHHCS is an academic facility with teaching and research programs.
Major Duties and Responsibilities: This part-time Endocrinologist
position is located at the Manhattan VA Medical Center and supports
the Network's mission to care for our Veterans with compassion and
excellence. The position involves inpatient and outpatient
Endocrinology Medicine. Duties of the position include, but are not
limited to: - Diagnose and treat various endocrine system
disorders, including diabetes, thyroid disorders, adrenal
disorders, and pituitary disorders. - Provide comprehensive
endocrine care to veteran patients. - Conduct outpatient clinic
visits and inpatient consultations. - Develop individualized
treatment plans in collaboration with other healthcare providers. -
Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests and procedures
relevant to endocrinology. - Educate patients on disease
management, lifestyle changes, and preventive measures. -
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case
discussions. - Supervise and mentor medical students, residents,
and fellows. - Engage in research activities and contribute to
medical knowledge in the field of endocrinology. - Maintain
accurate and complete medical records in compliance with VA
policies. This position is eligible for the Education Debt
Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement
program. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility
period (one to five years). Basic Requirements: - United States
Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not
possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA
Policy. - Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent. The degree
must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the
Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of
study was completed. - Current, full and unrestricted license to
practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth
of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. - Residency
Training: Physicians must have completed residency training,
approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core
specialty training program leading to eligibility for board
