supervise offenders released on probation or parole to serve the

Board of Probation and Parole. This position is within the
Department of Corrections.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Duties of a Parole Agent 1 include helping parolees and
probationers resolve problems hindering their adjustment to
society, developing treatment plans based on the needs of each
individual parolee and probationer, and participating in
proceedings by providing testimony regarding the parolee and
probationer. Other duties include monitoring the probationer or
parolees conduct, answering concerns from the public, probationers,
parolees, and their families regarding concerns, and arresting
those who may have violated their probation or parole. working with
the community
Field Operations: Agents are assigned state vehicles to ensure they
can meet with parolees where they live and work. They work within
the community to supervise and guide the transition and integration
of parolees. Parole supervision is much more than working
one-on-one with a parolee. It encompasses coordination and
consultation with a parolee's employer, counselors, and family
members.
Successful completion of the 12-month training/probationary period
will result in a promotion to Parole Agent 2 with an increase in
salary!
Work Schedule and Additional Information:Full-time employment,
40-hour work weekWork schedule and hours to be determined. Holidays
and weekends as required.Must be willing to travel.This position is
eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50/55.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements:Four
years of paraprofessional experience which includes two years of
paraprofessional social services, human services, corrections, or
law enforcement experience; orTwo years of paraprofessional social
services, human services, corrections, or law enforcement
experience, and an associate's degree; orA bachelor's degree in
criminal justice, law enforcement, legal studies, political
science, behavioral science, or a related field; orAn equivalent
combination of experience and training. Applicants will be
considered to have met the educational requirements once they are
within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Special Requirements:All positions require possession of an active
non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C driver's license or
equivalent.All employees must obtain CLEAN certification within two
months of employment and maintain this certification for the
duration of employment in this job.
Other Requirements:This position requires successful completion of
up to a nine (9) week training program at the Training Academy in
Elizabethtown, PA.This position requires participation in training
programs including firearms, defensive tactics, and personal safety
techniques.This position requires you to wear, carry, and use
protective devices such as ballistic vests and pepper spray.This
position requires you to work independently and encounter
potentially dangerous situations working in neighborhoods,
offenders' homes, and prisons.You must meet the PA residency
