About the Office The Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor
(SNP) for the City of New York is a multi-jurisdictional law
enforcement agency dedicated to combating complex narcotics and
related offenses. Working in coordination with local, state, and
federal partners, SNP plays a critical role in ensuring public
safety through strategic investigations, prosecutions, and
innovative criminal justice solutions. Position Overview The
Special Narcotics Prosecutor’s Office seeks a junior Trial
Presentation and Evidence Support Specialist . This role provides
technical and logistical support for trial preparation, courtroom
presentation, event recording, and limited digital forensics.
Employees are expected to follow established procedures, maintain
accurate documentation, and support attorneys in fast-paced,
deadline-driven environments Key Responsibilities Proficient with
audio/video editing tools. Edit, enhance, prepare, and format audio
and video evidence for use in hearings, trials, and attorney review
Extract relevant segments from lengthy surveillance recordings and
ensure clarity, synchronized playback, and courtroom-ready file
formatting. Convert files between formats, repair corrupted media
when possible, and maintain strict evidentiary integrity during all
editing processes. Collect digital surveillance footage from
various systems including DVRs, cloud-based platforms, proprietary
security systems, and mobile devices. Perform frame-accurate
extractions, still-image captures, and time-stamping verification
to ensure evidentiary accuracy. Design and build PowerPoint decks
and digital trial presentations tailored to prosecutorial strategy,
including embedded media, timelines, call-outs, annotations, and
demonstrative exhibits. Collaborate with attorneys to organize
exhibits, streamline presentation flow, and ensure media is
properly indexed and accessible during trial. Operate Trial
Director (or comparable software such as On Cue, Sanction, etc.)
during trials, hearings, and evidentiary presentations. Testify in
court regarding technical processes, handling procedures,
extraction methods, and editing steps performed on evidentiary
media. Set up and operate audio/video recording systems for
fireside chats, panels, and CLE programs. The ability to clearly
explain technical procedures in a manner understandable by judges,
juries, and attorneys, ensuring transparency and evidentiary
credibility. Conduct limited digital forensics tasks such as cell
phones intake, basic data extraction and evidence preservation.
Perform digital evidence memorialization of audio/video recording
rate and codecs , logs, and chain-of-custody integrity.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2 year of
related experience, preferably within a private sector, law
enforcement, or criminal justice environment. Experience with video
editing and digital evidence preparation. Proficiency with
Microsoft PowerPoint and related presentation tools. Experience
using Trial Director or similar courtroom presentation systems.
Ability to provide clear and accurate courtroom testimony.
Understanding of digital evidence handling and chain-of-custody
procedures. Ability to work under pressure and meet strict
deadlines. General computer proficiency and ability to learn
required software and procedures. Ability to follow detailed
instructions and maintain accurate records. Strong attention to
detail and ability to operate in a fast-paced environment. Exposure
to video editing, digital presentation tools, or courtroom
technology preferred. Excellent communication and tasks management
skills. U.S. Citizenship required; must pass a background
investigation. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience supporting
trial teams in a legal, law enforcement, or government setting.
Experience with audio/video equipment setup and operation.
Familiarity with video editing or presentation software. Interest
in legal procedures, digital evidence, or courtroom technology.
