Our firm is hiring an associate attorney who will support us by conducting legal research, drafting documents, maintaining client files, and assisting with legal counsel. This is a remote position. A Maryland license is required. The ideal candidate will have some courtroom experience and strong legal research and writing skills. Compensation: $90,000 - $100,000 Responsibilities: Maintain client files in an organized fashion to ensure up-to-date information is handy for other attorneys, paralegals and support staff Collaborate with clients and senior associates and other staff to move cases toward resolution efficiently Analyze conflicts in legal matters, advise clients on solutions, and negotiate on behalf of clients Draft documents such as correspondence, pleadings, motions, briefs, affidavits, settlement agreements, and contracts to be used proceedings and contract negotiations Perform legal research, prepare for and attend hearings or other legal proceedings, and give general counsel under the supervision of senior associate attorneys Qualifications: Willingness to learn from senior attorneys to meet our client needs and grow our client base Candidates must have passed the bar exam Member in good standing and actively involved with the ABA (American Bar Association) Has a Juris Doctor (J.D. degree) from an accredited law school Effective communication skills and problem-solving skills are necessary to work with all levels of staff and clients About Company At Smith Clinesmith LLP, founded by the indomitable Curtis Clinesmith and steered by visionary Managing Partner Dawn Smith, we wage a relentless battle against elder abuse.
