Job Description Job Description Working for a non for profit organization, Sat's & Sun's 6 hours each day. The ONA Hotline Staff Attorney will report to the Director of Hotline Services, and support Rapid Response services expanded services on the ONA Hotline, including: (1) screening for relief of unrepresented callers; (2) responding to urgent calls from community members on the weekends (3) providing information and brief advice for pro se respondents; and (4) preparing legal updates and scripts for Hotline team, with a focus on detention and removal policies and advising on due process rights. This is a grant-funded position, and employment will depend on continued availability of funding. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Conduct initial intakes and evaluation of eligibility for immigration benefits and/or relief from removal and provide accurate. Answer general questions and provide brief legal advice and Know Your Rights information during calls, or during follow-up calls, as needed. 2. Stay current on immigration policy changes, with a focus on removal defense, due process, and eligibility for relief, to assist with preparing tip sheets and scripts for Hotline weekend staff. Provide in-house training, presentations, and workshops to enable Hotline staff to share meaningful referrals and pro se support resources for family preparedness planning, removal defense strategies and habeus petitions and other legal remedies, as needed. 3. Maintain strong working relationships with partners and stakeholders, including various internal departments, external legal service providers and community members, and conduct outreach presentations, as directed. 4. Comply with program reporting requirements, such as maintaining regularly updated timesheets, training roster and data entry for the purposes of compiling vouchers and aggregate reports on weekend Hotline trends for funder and agency.
