of life. Job Summary: Gametime seeks a Senior Backend Engineer II
for the Tools and Automation team . This team is responsible for
the technology that makes all the processes behind the scenes of
our marketplace fast, effective, and efficient. This role is for a
senior technical leader who combines deep engineering expertise
with strong ownership, accountability, and the ability to drive the
direction of systems that make Gametime happen. You'll be expected
to lead initiatives end-to-end - from identifying opportunities to
delivering high-quality solutions that scale across teams and
domains. As a senior leader in the org, you'll mentor others ,
influence architectural direction, and represent the team's
strategy across engineering, design, product, and operations. Your
domain will be comprised of both traditional and AI-driven
automation (agentic) systems , ensuring that every workflow,
service, and tool is efficient, resilient, and strategically
aligned with company objectives. Key Responsibilities: Drive
Agentic System Design and Technical Strategy - Lead the design and
architecture of AI and automated systems and platforms that enable
operational excellence across Gametime. Ensure designs are
extensible, observable, and evolve with the company's growth. Own
Foundational Systems - Take full ownership of critical backend
systems that power automation and internal tools. Define long-term
roadmaps, reliability standards, and performance goals. Align team
and influence the org on LLM best practices. End-to-End Delivery
and Accountability - Drive projects from conception through
production with clear milestones, proactive risk management, and
measurable outcomes. Champion quality, maintainability, and
operational excellence. Lead Cross-Functional Execution - Partner
with Product, Design, and Operations to translate complex business
workflows into scalable automation. Anticipate future needs and
ensure systems are built for change, not just completion. Technical
Stewardship and Mentorship - Elevate the technical bar by mentoring
teammates through design reviews, code reviews, and collaborative
programming sessions. Shape best practices and foster a culture of
thoughtful, deliberate engineering. AI and Automation Leadership -
Leverage AI Code Generation tools to accelerate delivery while
enforcing standards of clarity, reliability, and test coverage.
Apply LLMs and automation thoughtfully, using them where they
create strategic value. Influence Beyond Code - Demonstrate
ownership of the team's mission by identifying high-impact
opportunities, advocating for bold solutions, and ensuring
alignment with Gametime's strategic priorities. Cultural and
Organizational Impact - Contribute to building an inclusive,
growth-oriented culture. Take initiative in defining how the team
learns, collaborates, and scales its impact. Key Competencies:
Technical Skills: AI/Agentic Automation: Experience building
AI/agentic automation; planning, tool use, context engineering;
experience working with LLM evaluations to improve agentic systems.
Workflow Automation: Experience building with workflow
orchestration platforms (Temporal, Amazon SWF, etc.). Backend
Development: Proficiency in building reliable backend systems using
Golang or Python. System Design: Experience developing distributed
systems with a focus on performance, reliability, and
maintainability. API Development: Capable of designing and
maintaining well-structured internal and external APIs.
Event-Driven Systems: Experience working with messaging systems
like Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar. Databases: Solid experience with
relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL) and NoSQL technologies (e.g.
MongoDB, DynamoDB). Tools and Automation: Experience developing and
owning tools and automation that empower different disciplines. AI
Fluency : Experience and comfortable using AI tools (e.g.,Cursor,
Copilot, ChatGPT). Interpersonal Skills: Team Collaboration: Works
effectively with cross-functional partners to deliver reliable
solutions and shares knowledge through code reviews and discussion.
Communication: Determined to understand and support others through
active listening and asking questions. Problem-Solving and
Decision-Making: Problem Solving: Demonstrates strong critical
thinking and decision-making abilities, especially in situations
that have nuanced workflows and systems. Domain Ownership:
Proactive in identifying challenges and implementing solutions.
Minimum Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's Degree in Software
Engineering or related field. Experience: 7 years of experience
building and engineering software, 2 years building automation
software. Preferred Qualifications: Experience: Building LLM or AI

ranges are subject to change and assigned to a job based on
specific market median of similar jobs according to 3rd party
salary benchmark surveys. Individual pay within that range can vary
for several reasons including skills/capabilities, experience, and
available budget. United States - Pay Range $188,737—$222,044 USD
