Description Prepares students, program participants, and current
University of Maryland Medical System team members for entry into
and advancement within clinical careers through systemwide career
coaching, barrier resolution, and wraparound support. This position
plays a critical role in strengthening the clinical workforce
across UMMS by guiding individuals through academic, vocational,
and licensure pathways, while supporting long-term career
development and retention. Partners closely with UMMS leadership,
academic institutions, and community organizations to ensure a
reliable, diverse, and well-prepared pipeline of talent to meet
current and future workforce needs. Qualifications The following

responsibilities performed. Career Coaching & Support Conducts
program intake, orientation, and individualized career assessments
for clinical pathway participants. Provides one-on-one career
coaching, helping participants set and achieve educational,
vocational, and professional goals. Connects participants with
wraparound supports and addresses barriers to success. Offers job
readiness, essential skills, and resilience training to strengthen
career progression and retention outcomes. Workforce Development
Facilitates smooth academic-to-practice transitions by
collaborating with UMMS academic-practice initiatives and clinical
leaders. Supports internal advancement opportunities for current
UMMS employees pursuing clinical careers. Engages in post-placement
coaching and case management to promote long-term employment
stability and career growth. Partnership & Engagement Builds and
maintains relationships with clinical schools, allied health
programs, community colleges, workforce agencies, and community
organizations to attract and support emerging clinical talent.
Aligns systemwide pathway efforts with UMMS workforce priorities.
Facilitates information sessions, hiring events, and referral
sourcing activities to expand the clinical pipeline. Data &
Continuous Improvement Tracks participant progress, job placement,
and retention outcomes to evaluate program effectiveness. Provides
regular reports and insights to leadership to inform continuous
improvement in workforce development strategies. Adjusts coaching
and engagement approaches to strengthen conversion, retention, and
career advancement outcomes. Perform all other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience - Required Bachelor’s degree in Human
Services, Social Work, Education, Nursing, Business, or a related
field. Minimum of three (3) years of experience in workforce
development, career coaching, academic advising, healthcare
education, or related roles. Education & Experience - Preferred
Experience with healthcare workforce programs, nursing or allied
health education pathways, or academic-practice partnerships.
Familiarity with adult learning strategies, case management, and
wraparound workforce supports. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Strong career counseling and coaching skills Knowledge of clinical
workforce trends, educational pathways, and licensure requirements
Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills
with diverse populations Ability to work collaboratively across a
large, complex health system with multiple stakeholders Strong
organizational and time-management skills; able to manage multiple
priorities Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Ability to
collect and analyze program data to support decision-making
Results-driven, participant-focused, and adaptable Additional
Information This role is funded for an initial two-year period
through a grant. Renewal is possible if future funding is secured;
however, continuation beyond the grant period cannot be guaranteed.
