Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Labor and Delivery - Discipline: RN - Duration: 26 weeks - 12 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Local Contract Position Overview The Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery provides comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care to obstetric patients during labor, delivery, recovery, and the immediate postpartum period. This role requires strong clinical judgment, the ability to respond effectively in high-acuity situations, and collaboration with interdisciplinary team members to ensure safe maternal and neonatal outcomes. This PRN position requires availability for 2–3 shifts per month to support high-volume periods. Additional full-time hours may be offered during peak census weeks. Key Responsibilities Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care for laboring patients and newborns Monitor maternal and fetal status, recognizing and responding to changes in condition Administer medications and treatments in accordance with established policies and standards of care Assist with vaginal and cesarean deliveries Provide patient and family education regarding labor, delivery, newborn care, and postpartum recovery Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, anesthesiologists, neonatology staff, and support teams Maintain accurate and timely documentation Ensure compliance with infection control, safety, and regulatory standards Required Credentials & Compliance Active Registered Nurse (RN) license Basic Life Support (BLS) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Competency exam Core mandatory annual training Pre-Employment Requirements: Background check Drug screen Educational and employment verification License verification References Resume I-9 Attestation/E-Verify Skills checklist Medication test Color vision screening Fit mask test Latex health questionnaire Health & Immunization Requirements: COVID-19 vaccination Influenza vaccine Hepatitis B MMR Varicella Tdap TB screening Regulatory & Compliance Screenings: FACIS 3M screening FBI clearance (PA Department of Human Services) National Sex Offender and Predator Registry search NURSYS verification OFAC sanction screening OIG exclusion screening SAM sanction screening PA Child Abuse History Certification PA Medicheck PATCH Prosperity Workforce Solutions Inc.
