Job Description Job Description Benefits: Competitive salary Flexible schedule SUMMARY Under general direction, is responsible for evaluating and treating patients in order to facilitate rehabilitation and independence in daily living skills of physically and/or mentally disabled patients. Duties and activities may vary based on assignments and program. This is a fee-for-service position delivering services in day programs and individuals' residences. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The duties and responsibilities of the Occupational Therapist will include, but are not limited to the following: Evaluates patients referred to practice to establish learning and performance capabilities and develops a treatment plan to attain established goals working within scope of patients disability. Evaluation includes activities of daily living (feeding, dressing, grooming, hygiene, transfers), fine motor and gross motor skills, sensory awareness, perceptual motor skills, homemaking and independent living skills. Develops a treatment plan and goal based on assessment. Integrates and provides therapeutic services in or home of person served through consultation with parent/guardian and staff. Documents therapy activities and results on patients records in accordance with practices policy and procedures, assists in overall evaluation and rehabilitation of patients medical/psychiatric condition. Documents progress on all active cases in therapy, monitors therapy status, and makes appropriate recommendations as changes occur. Refers patients to other clinical services if such referral is felt appropriate. Provides supervision to students and Occupational Therapy Assistants as needed. Follows all regulations regarding service provision and billing. Maintain a minimum caseload of 10 individuals (equivalent to about 4 hours of therapy). Performs other related duties as requested. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English Good interpersonal skills are required in order to interact effectively with employees, co- workers, patients, their families, other programs, outside contacts, etc. Due to sensitive nature of the position, must be able to maintain the strictest confidentiality. Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks. Good organizational skills Good oral and written communications skills Analytical ability necessary to evaluate patients condition and progress and select appropriate therapy techniques. Manual dexterity to operate tools EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Masters in Occupational Therapy. Two years of experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. IPSIDD approval preferred. LICENSE/CERTIFICATION Current NY State license in Occupational Therapy
