Therapist/COTA LOCATIONS: Roselle/East Orange NJ ( School
Districts) SALARY: starting at $70 per hour, based on years of
clinical experience/experience in a school-based setting. ABOUT

with cerebral palsy and their families, Pillar Care has steadily
grown and now delivers life-affirming services to infants,
children, adults and their families throughout northern New Jersey
through 27 program locations. Pillar Care provides specialized
programs to meet a wide range of educational, therapeutic, and
social needs of people with various disabilities. The agency serves
over 1,650 families each year and employs 700 full- and part-time
employees. ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY: We are seeking a collaborative,
passionate Occupational Therapist who is looking to make a
difference? Join our supportive team to provide therapy services to
students within the public-school setting. As a staff member, you
will be involved in enhancing the lives of people with disabilities
and other special needs by supporting personal growth,
independence, and participation in the community. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conducts initial screenings and/or evaluations using formal and
informal assessments; interprets and analyzes data; submits full
comprehensive written reports of findings. Identifies and
implements long and short-term treatment plans, either individually
or in a group setting or indirectly as a consultant, including
educationally relevant goals and methods to achieve identified
goals within given time frame Submits to appropriate source written
reports such as client reevaluations/ updates, anecdotal notes,
clinic notes, special interim reports and other related information
using required formats/ forms; maintains service-related records
following billing, reimbursements and procurement procedures
Coordinates and integrates occupational therapy with other therapy
and educational programs Develops home or classroom programs for
specific clients providing printed handouts or instructions;
provides direct training for appropriate home or classroom
personnel Participates in conferences, meetings and other planning
sessions concerning individual children; recommends therapy
activities as part of total treatment plan May design, fabricate,
adjust, or make minor repairs to therapeutic equipment for
individuals and participate in ordering equipment for home, school,
or community Reviews and revises treatment programs as required;
terminates treatment service when appropriate Identifies own
education and supervision needs; attends educational courses to
maintain and update knowledge and skills; may conduct in-service
education to staff and team members Initiates contact with direct
supervisor to report any concerns regarding safety and appropriate
care, schedule changes, new referrals Travel to school locations
away from administrative office May be required to supervise COTA’s
following professional guidelines. Other responsibilities as
directed by the Program Director or Supervisor
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Demonstrated knowledge of and
independence in the use of varied treatment approaches; knowledge
of child development Ability to relate and treat a variety of
students with disabilities without bias or prejudice Communicate
effectively verbally and in writing with students, parents, and
other professionals Respect and maintain confidentiality Build and
promote teamwork; maintains proper working relationships with
students, parents, co-workers and supervisors Maintain a safe
working environment; adheres to ethical standards of the
profession, policies, procedures and standard health precautions
Perform physical activities related to delivery of therapeutic
services QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree and graduation from an
accredited AOTA (American O.T. Association) occupational therapy
program; successful completion of NBCOT (National Board of
Certification in Occupational Therapy) Certification Examination;
State of New Jersey of license; NJ Department of Education
Certification as an Occupational Therapist; fingerprint examination
and approval. OR Graduate of an AOTA (American O.T. Association)
approved occupational therapy assistant program and successful
completion of NBCOT (National Board of Certification of OT)
Certification Examination or an equivalent combination, New Jersey
State License fingerprint examination and approval by State of NJ.
