opportunity to join our team as a Clinical Specialist, Physical
Therapy - Emergency Department. In this role, the successful
candidate Responsible for coordinating the patient care, training
programs, and research endeavors for a specialty area of Physical
Therapy practice or program within the Physical Therapy department.
Assists in the oversight of daily operations of the unit as needed.
Job Responsibilities: - Demonstrates a leadership role in the
development of specialized clinical expertise, communication, and
teamwork. Demonstrates good judgment, initiative and independent
thinking. Demonstrates direct involvement with clinical training
and in-service education. Recognizes when help is needed by others
and offers guidance and assistance. - Assists in Case Management
responsibilities as they pertain to the Physical Therapy plan of
care for any clients within the unit. Works in collaboration with
other unit team members as needed. Assists in the coordination of
patient care throughout the continuum. - Identifies new equipment
to facilitate programmatic growth and development. Assists with
clinical justification for purchasing specialized equipment, as
well as training of staff related to use and care of specialized
clinical equipment. - Works in conjunction with staff and
management on Performance Improvement and clinical research
projects that will benefit the unit and/or the department. Assists
in developing goals, standards and evaluation criteria for
Performance Improvement Projects. Acts as a liaison with members of
interprofessional team to develop projects. Collects data and
solicits feedback from staff providing recommendations for
revisions in PI projects with regards to clinical practice and
departmental operations. Suggests ideas, methodology, and rationale
for research projects and participate directly in the collection of
data and monitoring of the project. - Submits grant proposals,
abstracts, and articles for publication or presentation at clinical
conferences. - Assists in the coordination of the student program
and other clinical education programs including residencies and
fellowships with senior staff and other management. Prepares and
participates in educational sessions for patients, families,
students, and house staff. Participates in lectures, seminars, and
workshops by NYU Langone Health and other agencies, institutions
and associations. - Develops material which will enhance the
quality and scope of the care rendered to the patient, i.e.
pamphlets, videos, home programs in collaboration with other
members of the team. Develops resource material to be utilized by
staff members, i.e. suggests journals for library, accesses
research articles, etc. Presents ideas/materials to be developed in
area of clinical expertise to further enhance the department. -
Assists administrative managers to comprehensively assess clinical
performance of PTs and PTAs. Ensures Physical Therapy patient care
rendered to both in and out patients in area of specialized
clinical expertise meets best practice standards. Assists in
evaluations and development of treatment plans for patients.
Implements corrective actions when necessary, e.g. when clinical
care does not meet standards. - Provides education and training of
all staff in areas of expertise to further enhance the departments
clinical proficiency. Trains staff to be able to cover when
colleagues are out on sick/vacation days. - Develops and implements
clinical programs to meet patient care needs. Collaborates with
other members of the interprofessional team to enhance clinical
programs and meet the needs of special patient populations.
Develops ways to measure implementation and efficacy/quality of
clinical programs. - Assists in development of processes to
identify patient populations with unmet rehabilitation needs and
proposes clinical programming to meet their needs in specialized
area of clinical practice. - Collaborates with other units to
promote evidence-based care for patient populations seen across the
continuum and works to improve throughput in health system to
ensure rehabilitation needs of patients are met. - Demonstrates
continued proficiency in skills required to treat assigned patient
population and provides patient care to meet established
productivity targets. - Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum
Qualifications: To qualify you must have a NYS Physical Therapy
License with valid, current registration. Bachelor's Degree in
Physical Therapy. Minimum of three years as a licensed Physical
Therapist with progressive responsibilities and development in
Orthopedic Outpatient, Vestibular Rehab, Acute Care and the
Emergency Department. Effective oral communication and
interpersonal skills. BLS certification (Issued by the American
Heart Association-AHA, or the American Red Cross-ARC) OR CPR/AED
certification (issued by the American Heart Association-AHA, or the
American Red Cross-ARC) is required upon entry to the position.
Required Licenses: Physical Therapist License-NYS Preferred
Qualifications: Master's Degree in Physical Therapy or a related
field. Teaching experience. Minimum of five years clinical
experience with demonstrated leadership skills. APTA Clinical
Specialist Certification in area of expertise Qualified candidates
must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the

Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role
is $81,325.14 - $135,541.73 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a
variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and
