Assessment Skills: Utilize your competent knowledge of growth and development stages from Pediatric to Geriatric to deliver appropriate patient care. Perform thorough, systematic, comprehensive, and accurate assessments.
Clinical Skills: Demonstrate competent clinical skills through direct patient care activities. Provide appropriate nursing care, and exhibit knowledge and skill in handling emergency equipment and procedures.
Documentation: Maintain complete and accurate documentation. Be responsible for documenting components of the nursing process and patient's progress, including patient education, in the patient's chart.
Professionalism: Show professional practice responsibility. Understand policies and procedures and identify areas for clinical and professional growth.
Patient Satisfaction: Respond to patients, families, and co-workers professionally and courteously, promoting an environment centered on patient and family care. Maintain confidentiality according to HIPAA guidelines.
Safety: Adhere to National Patient Safety Goals, including using Universal Protocol and identifying patients with two identifiers. Use safe transfer techniques and proper body mechanics for self and patients.
Unit Specific Job Function: Demonstrate knowledge of surgical patient conditions/diagnoses, procedures, and equipment. Individualize patient care based on the procedure and type of anesthesia.
Responsibility and Accountability: Contribute to the perioperative team by prioritizing patient care based on their needs and condition changes.
Patient Education and Chart Completion: Assess patient understanding of surgical procedures and actively involve patients and family members in teaching. Perform pre-operative and postoperative assessment and education.
Duties Specific to PAT RN: Support the timely completion of patient testing. Evaluate Pre Admission Testing (PAT) orders for appropriateness based on proposed surgery, patient age, and health status.

Education

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
Associates or Bachelor's Degree - Preferred
