The Vice President, Behavioral & Organizational Safety is an energetic and dynamic leader who will be the catalyst for transforming NFI's safety culture. He/she will be a strategic partner to Operational and Functional leadership and understand their businesses, challenges and opportunities. He/she will collaboratively develop and own all activities to improve safety culture and performance. The safety-specific areas required for this role include but are not limited to: occupational safety, process safety, transportation safety, environmental compliance, product quality, and training and development. The VP will build and lead a team of safety professionals who provide both front-line and high-level regional field consultation and support. He/she will work closely with the broader Enterprise Risk Management organization with significant collaboration with Regulatory & Compliance division. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Champion the development and implementation of a Behavioral Safety & Organizational safety culture and management system Serve as a key member of the Enterprise Risk Management Leadership Team and collaborate closely with operational and functional leadership regarding behavioral safety and organizational policies and practices Champion efforts to increase Safety's presence and importance across all parts of the organization and drive Safety as a vital component of NFI's culture Champion activities designed to empower all employees to take ownership of their personal safety and that of their co-workers Manage Safety department budget Develop training for employees on a wide range of safety topics including, driver training, product hazards and handling, safe work practices, first aid, emergency response, regulatory compliance and other topics Support Sales by providing assistance with safety-related customer requests and advising on safety and compliance-related product/service offerings Work with Regulatory & Compliance in developing and implementing an audit program aimed at ensuring that all assets and facilities maintain compliance with corporate and regulatory authority policy Ensure Management and employees are educated on what constitutes a safety incident, and that serious near misses are reported and investigated, including root cause determination and establishment of appropriate corrective action Lead Risk Control and prevention initiatives: Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), facility safety equipment, vehicle/trailer safety equipment, etc. Develop key performance indicators for evaluating Behavioral & Organizational Safety performance. Prepare ongoing Management Reports to measure and asses and track performance. Work with Regulatory & Compliance to promote compliance with Corporate Safety Policy Managing the transition of acquired companies and new business to a desired NFI safety culture. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned KEY RELATIONSHIPS: Internal: Support, consult and work with Corporate, Divisional and Operational Leadership in driving behavioral safety programing. This position will influence decisions on all risk control related matters. External: Work with insurers, brokers, regulators, consultants, lawyers on managing safety behavior and performance. Represent NFI within industry, peer groups and organizations. KNOWLEDGE / QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE / SKILLS: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in safety, behavioral psychology, risk management or related technical field Minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in Production and/or Transportation Safety with focus on Behavioral Safety. Minimum of eight (8) years experience in leading, building, developing, and managing collaborative teams; Demonstrated results in establishing strategic goals and metrics for measuring success. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or related safety designation required Strong Computer application skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, GMail High-level knowledge of Federal DOT rules and regulations and OSHA Strong collaboration, analytical, influential, interpersonal, and organizational skills Must be results-oriented with the ability to drive continuous improvement within the Safety organization as well as the overall organization Ability to communicate clearly, concisely and professionally both verbally, non-verbally and in writing Ability to travel at varying frequencies and work long, irregular hours as required based on business demand Must have a valid driver's license and be willing to use personal vehicle
