Job Summary:



  • Assist in the overall supervision / management of F & W department, programs, facilities, staff and special events.


  • Ensure department and staff engage members and provide exceptional customer service.


  • Direct supervision of the Katz JCC Maccabi Delegation head and athlete delegation.


  • Directly supervise programs, staff and special events in F&W (often in conjunction with F &W professional staff)


  • Promote team building and staff development opportunities among staff of F&W department and ensure quality programs and services are created and delivered to JCC members.


  • Supervise the liaison to JCC Marketing Coordinator and 215 Marketing to enhance marketing effectiveness.


  • Create and organize department special events for community outreach and promotion.


  • Position the department for continued growth (programs, services, special events)


    Job Responsibilities:


    • Maintain records and statistics with respect to JCC Fitness and Wellness Department and programs (i.e., schedules, class schedules, maintenance schedule of equipment, facility usage, etc.)


    • In conjunction with Fitness and Wellness director, supervise staff / develop and provide ongoing team building, training & leadership for Fitness and Wellness staff to always ensure quality and efficient operation of department.


    • Responsible for ordering supplies and equipment for Fitness and Wellness programs and facilities and ensuring that equipment is properly maintained.


    • Maintain ongoing communication with members and participants of JCC Fitness & Wellness programs, facilities, etc.


    • Actively recruit JCC membership to participate in classes and programs affiliated with the fitness and wellness department.


    • Assist with Fitness and Wellness budgets and programs in accordance with departmental goals.


    • Develop, coordinate and administer (assist in instruction) Fitness and Wellness classes, programs, special events, etc. in conjunction with professional staff of department and ongoing community / membership needs.


    • In conjunction with F&W Committee and fitness and wellness sub departments, create and implement NEW innovative program ideas and classes to meet the needs of membership.


    • In tandem with the Sports and Recreation Director, maintain positive relationships with coaches, athletes and parents of JCC Maccabi Games local delegation and help to ensure a safe, well-rounded environment for all participants.


    • Participate in regular Fitness and Wellness OD coverage, (daily supervision of Fitness and Wellness facilities, programs, staff, etc.) 1 - 2 nights a week.


    • Along with maintenance department - provide ongoing maintenance to F&W equipment and facilities. Report unclean conditions, safety hazards and malfunctioning equipment.


    • Assist in the promotion of F&W department and integration with other JCC departments to ensure the productive, effective and efficient operation of the Agency.


    • As a professional representative of the agency, maintain proper relationships with public and private agencies for the purpose of developing inter-agency programs.


    • Additional responsibilities may be added periodically based upon the needs of the F & W department of the Katz JCC.


    • It is essential that all staff participate in a variety of agency wide activities. Staff should be knowledgeable about our agency and be able to respond appropriately with accurate information.


      Required Licenses/ Certificates/Registrations:
      CPR, First Aid and AED, Certified Pool Operator, Lifeguard, Personal Training
      Required Education & Experience:
      B.S degree in Physical Education, Fitness, Recreation or related field preferred or 3-5 years relevant experience in the sports and recreation and/or non-profit field.


      • CPR, AED and First Aid Certified - Lifeguard, CPO, First Aid


      • Proven ability to manage staff, programs, facility.


      • Proven ability to institute and create NEW exciting program options.


      • Strong organization skills, good communication skills, friendly outgoing attitude.


        Additional Technical Requirements:


        • Advanced Level PC skills: Microsoft Office Suite - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Access.


        • Ability to perform work that is routine and strong attention to details.


        • Knowledge of systems and functionality.


        • Ability to work in cross-functional teams.


        • Excellent project management
