American Crane & Equipment Corporation (ACECO) is seeking Mechanical Designers to support the design and development of overhead cranes, hoists, and heavy industrial equipment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring design accuracy, manufacturability, and customer satisfaction by translating project requirements into high-quality mechanical drawings and layouts. (Check us out on YouTube here) Engineering Impact - Your designs directly support custom, high-capacity lifting equipment used across critical industries Collaboration - Work closely with Engineering, Sales, Manufacturing, and Field teams Stability & Growth - Join a company known for low turnover, long-term employment, and internal development Quality-Driven Culture - Be part of a team where accuracy, accountability, and safety matter What You’ll Do: Review new orders by comparing specifications to proposals and resolve discrepancies with Sales Perform detailed design checks to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with project requirements Select components from manufacturer catalogs and generate purchase requisitions Prepare arrangement and layout drawings for customer review and approval Communicate with customers to address design questions and obtain approvals Interface with vendors to clarify technical requirements for purchased components Review detail drawings prepared by junior designers for accuracy and completeness Prepare detail drawings as needed to support project schedules Visit customer or internal facilities to verify dimensions, review installations, and inspect equipment Collaborate with shop personnel to resolve manufacturing or assembly challenges What We’re Looking For Education 2-year technical school degree in Mechanical Design or Engineering (required) Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferred) Skills, Experience & Attributes 3–5 years of mechanical design experience in heavy equipment or related industries Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks Strong understanding of mechanical and structural design principles High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and quality Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently Effective written and verbal communication skills Ability to collaborate across departments and support project timelines Alignment with ACECO’s values: Work Hard, Have Fun, and Do the Right Thing REQUIREMENTS Authorization to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship Ability to verify identity and employment authorization (Form I-9) Eligibility to access information or technology governed by U.S. export control laws (including 10 C.F.R. Parts 26 & 73) Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks) Ability to independently create, review, and revise mechanical and structural drawings Ability to interpret engineering specifications, proposals, and technical documentation Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, vendors, and customers Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments following all company safety requirements Work Environment Combination of office and manufacturing environments Regular collaboration with Engineering, Sales, and Manufacturing teams Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts and shop conditions Occasional site visits that may involve working at heights or outdoors Required adherence to all safety protocols and PPE requirements What's In It For You?
