- $100,805 Responsibilities This position is responsible for
managing the personnel and wide-ranging functions of the 24/7
Security Command Center (SCC) and Security Operations Center (SOC)
within the NYCT Department of Security. Responsibilities may
include, but are not limited to, the following duties: Managing a
team of NYCT Security supervisors and analysts who are responsible
for maintaining continuous domain and situational awareness of the
public and non-public areas of the NYCT system. Managing the daily
operations for retrieving video from buses, subway stations and
subway rail cars; ensuring timely processing of CCTV video
requests. Communicating in real-time to MTA and NYCT executive
staff any changes in the security/safety environment of NYCT.
Managing timely responses to security related incidents; ensuring
the communication of timely updates to Department of Security
Senior Management and all stakeholders. Ensuring timely and
accurate notifications to external agencies and stakeholders.
Identifying and addressing emergent security issues, patterns or
trends, or emergency situations and applying protocols. Directing
coordinated use of various security technologies, including CCTV,
intrusion detection tripwires, and other security equipment.
Implementing protocols associated with the agency’s workplace
violence prevention policy and security incident reporting
mechanism. Approving personnel leave time; completing daily payroll
deviation sheets; ensuring security personnel are paid
appropriately; overseeing overtime allocation. Evaluating
performance of security employees and developing staff in both
technical and professional skills through performance management
(coaching, counseling, disciplining, training, performance
evaluations, recognition, etc.); identifying training needs.
Ensuring all Transit Property Protection Supervisors (TPPS) and
Transit Property Protection Agents (TPPA) jobs and security posts
are appropriately covered / staffed 24x7. Remaining knowledgeable
of employee/labor union contract stipulations. Ensuring that
employee grievances are heard and resolved (with help from
appropriate support employees, as required) and that personnel
records are updated and accurate (e.g., Change of Status forms,
rosters, etc.) Developing /reviewing and maintaining Standard
Operational Procedures (SOPs) and post orders; preparing and
proofreading security incident reports; conducting investigative
analyses of various incidents, if needed. The selected candidate
may be temporarily or permanently reassigned to the Department of
Security Field Operations Division to manage the day-to-day
operations of the deployed uniformed guard force or reassigned to
Video Retrieval Unit to manage the day-to-day video retrieval and
deployable camera operations In addition, the selected candidate
may be required to work various tours of duty, as well as weekends
and holidays. Education and Experience Baccalaureate in Business
Administration, English or a satisfactory equivalent and seven (7)
years of related experience; two (2) years of
managerial/supervisory experience. An equivalent combination of
education and experience from an accredited college. Desired Skills
Experience in the security, counterterrorism, or intelligence
fields, military police or law enforcement in the transportation
industry. Seven (7) years supervisory field experience. Ability to
distill voluminous information into salient points for executive
summary and review. Ability to analyze problems and develop
creative solutions through independent decision-making. Excellent
customer relations, interpersonal and teambuilding skills.
Knowledge of security procedures, best practices, software and
access control systems. Strong verbal, written, digital, and
interpersonal communications skills. Knowledge of NYC Transit's
rules, regulations, and operating procedures. Knowledge of
Microsoft Office programs. Other Information Pursuant to the New
